Sub: Field visit of plantation sites for carbon credit under Kyoto protocol  

Dear Sir

We have visited your various plantation sites in Khapoli, Dolvi, Alibag,  Kalmeshwar etc alongwith your Mr Anil Goyel from 04.09.13 to 19.09.13. During field visit we could study vegetation of various plantation sites, environmental impacts, socio-economic benefits and also witness land preparation, pitting and planting activities in different villages. We also visited mist chamber facility at Khapoli and the nursery where roughly 50,00,000 seedlings were ready for plantation.

We have inspected your various documentation being maintained by the plantation department. Most of them have been found in order except patta was not available in a few cases. In the land pattas, the land category is mentioned as “Banjar” in local language which means degraded/waste land.

Tripartite agreement executed with the farmers, bank and RSL was found maintained cent percent. We have suggested to maintain a register that will include all the details like name of farmer, village, plot/ khata no, area in acres, date of plantation, seedling & fertilizer consumed, nos survived and finally date of harvesting in respect of each parcel. Growth of plants will be monitored on yearly basis for which we will be suggesting a separate process and a format for maintaining record.

Further as discussed with Mr Anil Goyel, vegetation in each and every parcel shall be recorded before undertaking any land preparation activity in the fields. This will include type & no of trees and quantum, size and intensity of bushes (few countable bushes, not countable scattered bushes, densely populated bushes etc) in the fields.
